Welcome to the Dows Lane Travel Agency where traveling to exciting places and discovering new things is our first priority. Are you tired of those same old family vacations? Want to see new and exciting places? Take a trip to the most interesting Biomes of the World. Visit and discover what the Rain Forest, Grasslands, Tundra, Desert, and Marine Biomes have to offer. Learn about the plant life, animal life, climate, location and much more.

Task

You are now an employee of the Dows Lane travel agency. Your job is to vacation to one of the Biomes and see what it has to offer. Choose from one of the five biomes mentioned in the introduction.

The travel agency needs your help. Recently, business has been slow. As an employee, you need to vacation to one of these biomes and find out about its plant/animal life, climate, location, and tell us whether it is a good vacation spot to bring the family.

Your job is to create a Powerpoint slide show using pictures, maps, information etc.. from your vacation. This slide show will be used to show customers exciting places to visit. Take care in making it a wonderful presentation and have a great vacation!

Process

• Log on the computer and access the webquest from the Dows Lane Homepage.
• Read the webquest "Biome Vacations". Make sure you understand what is required of you.
• Be sure to read the task and Powerpoint requirements to find out what information you need to complete your project.
• Use the Resource section in this webquest to get the answers to your questions. Search the Internet search engines to find out anymore needed information. You can use outside resources such as books. You are not limited to using the internet to find information.
• You may need additional time outside of class in order to complete your project. Make sure you know how to get to the Dows Lane Hompage and this webquest. Use your time wisely.
• Once you have gathered all your information you will use the program Powerpoint to create your presentation.
• Read the Powerpoint project requirements to know what is required on each slide. It should include enough pictures to make your presentation interesting so that families and friends would want to vacation there.
• Once you have completed this project, you will share it with the whole class. Print out a hard copy of it to share with your friends and family.

Evaluation

You will be evaluated using a rubric. Some of the things you will be evaluated on are:
• Answering questions
• Using the computer as a resource
• Documenting resources
• Writing clear and detailed information
• Putting the information into a multimedia format (it should have a good combination of text, graphics, and sound effects)
